Thank Donatella Arpaia and Michael Psilakis (the two have previously jointly opened Kefi and Anthos) for this casual-chic Italian eatery. The portions are hearty and the prices – especially given the quality – are mild (cocktails register at $12, appetizers go for $11, entrees around $23 for meat/fish, and $17 for pasta). As for the drink menu, the highlight is the whimsical wine list which features a section of Arpaia's picks, including "Wines I order when I'm celebrating," "Wines I learned from my father," and "Wines I drink when I don't have to pay the check." Wines also go by the glass and carafe, beer comes with a personal one-liter pitcher option. A three-room layout (lounge, den and library) lends the restaurant has a lived-in, homey feel. The lounge is adjacent to the expansive 15-seat, stone-topped bar. The den, which hosts six tables, is nestled in the middle in a room with black and white floral wallpaper. The library sports a zebra print carpet and shelved walls with trinkets and books covered in white paper. As for the crowd think couples, small family dinners, and Upper East Side ladies all looking for a quaint neighborhood meal.
